A Comparison of the Effect of Temperature on the Rheological Properties of Diutan and Rhamsan Gum Aqueous Solutions

The rheological properties exhibited by gums make its use in applications interesting, such as foods, cosmetics, enhanced oil recovery, or constructions materials. Regardless of application field, the effect of temperature on these properties is of great importance, since these properties can be modified and cause the gum not to be useful for those conditions. Diutan and rhamsan gums are biopolymers, belonging to the sphingans, with similar structures which differ in the substituents of their side chains. It is known that both gums exhibit suitable viscoelastic properties and flow behavior when used as a stabilizer, gelling agent, or thickener. Both gums are widely used in food industry, personal care products, construction materials, oil operations, etc. For this reason, to know the effect of the temperature on their rheological properties is very helpful. For this purpose, small amplitude oscillatory shear measurements and flow curves, as a function of the temperature from 10 C to 60 C, have been performed, and the results obtained for both gums compared. The obtained results provide interesting information from an industrial point of view, since they reveal that the rheological properties remained almost unaltered in the temperature range assessed with diutan gum aqueous solutions, being slightly more viscous and viscoelastic than rhamsan gum solutions.Spanish Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad (MINECO) and FEDER, UE project CTQ2015-70700-

Li–Yorke chaos in nonautonomous Hopf bifurcation patterns - I

We analyze the characteristics of the global attractor of a type of dissipative nonautonomous dynamical systems in terms of the Sacker and Sell spectrum of its linear part. The model gives rise to a pattern of nonautonomous Hopf bifurcation which can be understood as a generalization of the classical autonomous one. We pay special attention to the dynamics at the bifurcation point, showing the possibility of occurrence of Li-Yorke chaos in the corresponding attractor and hence of a high degree of unpredictability.MINECO/FEDER, MTM2015-66330-PEuropean Commission, H2020-MSCA-ITN-201

Metal Accumulation by Jatropha curcas L. Adult Plants Grown on Heavy Metal-Contaminated Soil

Jatropha curcas has the ability to phytoextract high amounts of heavy metals during its first months just after seeding. Notwithstanding, there is scarce information about metal uptake by adult J. curcas plants. To shed light on this issue, 4-year-old J. curcas L. plants were planted in a soil mixture of peat moss and mining soil (high metals content), and the biomass growth and metal absorption during 90 days were compared with those of plants growing in peat moss. The main metal found in the mining soil was Fe (31985 mg kg-1) along with high amounts of As (23717 mg kg-1). After the 90-day phytoremediation, the plant removed 29% of Fe and 44% of As from the soil mixture. Results revealed that J. curcas L. translocated high amounts of metals to its aerial parts, so that translocation factors were much higher than 1. Because of the high translocation and bioaccumulation factors obtained, J. curcas L. can be regarded as a hyperaccumulator plant. Despite the great capacity of J. curcas L. to phytoremediate heavy-metal-contaminated soils, the main drawback is the subsequent handling of the metal-contaminated biomass, although some potential applications have been recently highlighted for this biomass.University of Seville (VIPPIT-2019-I.5

Non-Atkinson perturbations of nonautonomous linear Hamiltonian systems: exponential dichotomy and nonoscillation

Producción CientíficaWe analyze the presence of exponential dichotomy (ED) and of global existence of Weyl functions $M^\pm$ for one-parametric families of finite-dimensional nonautonomous linear Hamiltonian systems defined along the orbits of a compact metric space, which are perturbed from an initial one in a direction which does not satisfy the classical Atkinson condition: either they do not have ED for any value of the parameter; or they have it for at least all the nonreal values, in which case the Weyl functions exist and are Herglotz. When the parameter varies in the real line, and if the unperturbed family satisfies the properties of exponential dichotomy and global existence of $M^+$, then these two properties persist in a neighborhood of 0 which agrees either with the whole real line or with an open negative half-line; and in this last case, the ED fails at the right end value. Los diccionarios inversos y de la rima, a menudo erróneamente confundidos entre sí, siguen siendo los grandes desconocidos del panorama lexicográfico vigente. La peculiaridad de su ordenación, sus funcionalidades específicas y su escasa distribución hacen de estos productos, alejados de los diccionarios alfabéticos convencionales, obras que continuamente deben ser justificadas por parte de sus  autores y editores. En este capítulo abordamos su evolución histórica, así como detallamos sus características esenciales. The peculiarity of their arrangement, their specific functionalities and their scarce distribution make theseproducts, far from conventional alphabetical dictionaries, works that must continually be justified by their authors and editors. In this chapter, we discuss its historical evolution, as well as detail its essential characteristics. Youth Associations in Rural Aragon in the Late Middle Ages

Este artículo trata de las asociaciones de los varones jóvenes en el mundo rural del Reino de Aragón durante la Baja Edad Media. Se inicia con un breve repaso de las figuras de los reyes juveniles. A continuación se estudian las agrupaciones aragonesas, su organización interna, sus ordenanzas y sus principales funciones como marco de sociabilidad y aprendizaje, tutelado por las autoridades municipales. Se analiza la relevancia de la juventud en las fiestas, y la contratación de juglares por parte de las asociaciones de jóvenes. Se examina también la importancia concedida al baile dominical y el interés de las autoridades en garantizar que no falten música y danzas para la juventud de cada lugar. Se abordan algunos momentos festivos del año, como las Pascuas (Navidad, Florida, Quincuagésima), que son importantes para los mozos y los juglares contratados por ellos. Se repara en las fiestas relevantes para los individuos de la asociación o para quienes pactan con ellos, especialmente con motivo de bodas y misas nuevas.This article deals with associations of young men in the rural world of the kingdom of Aragon in the Late Middle Ages. It begins with a brief review of the concept of the King of Youth. Later on, it focuses on Aragonese associations of this kind, their bylaws and their function as networks for sociability and learning, which were supervised by municipal authorities. The importance accorded the Sunday dance and the interest shown by the authorities in guaranteeing music and dances to entertain the local youth are both examined in detail. This work tackles the analysis of some annual festivities, like Christmas, Easter and Pentecost, which were important both for the young boys and for the minstrels they hired on these occasions. Attention is also paid to the feasts that were more relevant for the associations’ members and for those who worked for them, particularly weddings and first masses

Comprobación del nivel de Van-Hiele en el que se sitúa el alumnado a través de recursos TIC e intervención en problemas de consecución de los niveles

En este trabajo se ha realizado una investigación sobre cómo influye en la actualidad la tecnología en el aprendizaje, los Niveles de Van Hiele, las fases de aprendizaje y los errores que se producen en el aprendizaje de geometría. En dicho trabajo, se propone una propuesta de actuación para que el alumnado supere eficientemente las fases de aprendizaje del modelo de Van Hiele, en el que se incluye una secuencia de actividades de geometría diseñadas con el programa informático JClic. Con la secuencia de actividades propuesta se pretende comprobar en cuál de los tres primeros niveles de Van Hiele se sitúa el alumnado, así como la superación del mismo. Además, se propone una propuesta de intervención en un caso hipotético de un alumno con dificultades de aprendizaje en el primer nivel de Van Hiele. Besides, I suggest an action proposal so that students overcome the different learning phases of Van Hiele model. There are also a sequence of geometry activities design with the JClic software to check the student´s level.
